EPISODE TWENTY-EIGHT

Kayode You weren’t gonna make love to me, you were going to use me for ritual, I heard it all and you said it yourself.
I broke into uncontrollable tears, as he pushed me out of his room.
He sat down on his bed after he pushed me out of his room, I stood by the door crying and terrified, the door was ajar and I could see him making a call but I didn’t know whether to run or stay. I stood asking myself will Kayode allow me go after I’ve known his secret? Will he harm me? I asked myself looking for answers but, I couldn’t get one. I summoned little courage to walk away. As I moved passed the stairs I could hear loud music from the living room downstairs, I wondered if they were rejoicing that I’ve been used for the ritual or what could these guys be celebrating at the hour of day? I decided to check if there’s another exit I could use, I sneaked passed the dining room to the kitchen unnoticed, hoping to use the kitchen exit. As I got in the kitchen, I was surprised when I met one of the guys there. He was on dread and looks very scary. He seems to be heating a substance in a spoon and using a syringe to apply it. I could tell that was heroin. I have read about it but haven’t seen it until now. The sight of the guy made me more terrified. I managed to just greet him and pretended as if I came to pick a knife. I gently asked him where the knife is, he just pointed to a corner, it’s obvious that he is intoxicated. I managed to get the knife and hid it in my bag.
I walked into the living room as if nothing had happened, I greeted them all in a very low voice, one of them managed to speak to me. He looks calm among the guys. He said did Kayode rough handled you? I just shook my head implying that he didn’t , one of the guy said in pidgin;
“Abeg leave dat chick jor K Don scatter her u no c as she dey look like otondo”.
I felt embarrassed with the statement. The calm guy told him to leave me alone. He asked politely that what was I doing downstairs without Kayode. I didn’t know what answer to give instantly but I just said “he sent me to get something for us”.
The calm guy said “it’s OK”.
He introduced himself as Johnson. I said thank you and I felt little peace within me because I know Kayode had not informed these guys about what transpired between us, else this guys wouldn’t have been too relaxed like this. I walked out of the living room now inside the compound looking at the gate to my exit. Adrenaline rushed down my spine. I became very tensed. I couldn’t feel my legs I was sweating in a cold weather. I walked to the gate, met the security guard. He asked where I was going and I told him oga sent me to get something. From his tone I could tell that the guard is from calabar. He smiled at me, I managed to return the smile but my face wasn’t that bright. He noticed I was not myself…. He said in his Calabar accent
“madam abi you dey fear for this big house“
I said “no”.
“Please can you open the gate for me?” He left his security post walking in front of me I followed him. As he got to the gate, opening the padlock, I was so eager to leave the house, I told him to be fast, he just smiled at me saying “madam you go give me something o”. Finally the padlock was opened. Here is my escape staring at me in the face. Something told me to bring out the knife I took from the kitchen out of the bag, I quickly obeyed the voice and I hid the knife at my back.
As I was walking towards the gate to make my exit out of the building, I heard a voice from the balcony of the building saying
“okon if that girl go, you will lose your life”.
I raised my hand up to see who it was, behold it was Kayode. Immediately, I attacked okon with the knife but somehow he managed to dodge the knife, but I cut his arm deep enough. I saw blood gushing out. I tried to escape out of the building but okon was very strong, he overpowered me with his power, not minding whatever injury I might cause him with the knife I was holding. I fought back kicking the air but I was no match for okon. He held me so tight that I was almost suffocating. Before I knew it, Kayode friends were all out laughing at me. I became exhausted and already praying to God that he should forgive my sins and Grant me heaven, because I knew there was no way I’d escape. I looked at the sky and had this thoughts in my mind….
Will this be the end of my life? Immediately, I got out of my thoughts and looked down, I saw Kayode standing right in front of me. He gave me a very hot slap that I almost fainted. Blood spilled out of my mouth. His friends started laughing. Kayode said “you think I will tell you my secret and allow you leave my house?”
His friends laughed to this saying “anyone that knows Kay must know death”. Kayode then told his friends; “tie this bitch of a girl, keep her in the guard room, no food till I say otherwise”.
The guys answered “yes sir”

EPISODE TWENTY-NINE

Kayode then told his friend ,” tie this bitch of a girl, keep her in the guard room, no food til I say otherwise”.
The Guys answered “yes sir”
I was locked up in a room, my eyes were blindfolded and hands tied. Deep down in my heart, I knew that was the end all I could do was think about life, the struggles. …. I thought about my mother and brother, is this how I’m going to end my life? I wondered. I could remember how I lost my mom, how every bit of my life unravelled. I started crying and praying for mercy from God, it seems God is not even concerned about me, why did he forsake me? why did he allow me to get in wrong hands? why did he take my mother so soon? if not my life would have taken a different path. As I said all that , deep cloud covered my thoughts, I couldn’t even think straight forward. After crying my eyes out and lost all strength I fell asleep.
By the time I woke up, I noticed the blindfold had been removed, all I could see was a very dark room with a little hole where little light penetrated through. I tried to stand up but I couldn’t feel my legs. I remained seated on a spot waiting for my death. I had no strength to even talk anymore and I was very hungry. It’s been two days now no food nor water yet the place was very hot that I felt I was suffocating. I couldn’t call for help my body started failing me, I couldn’t breath well or lift any part of my body. I am dying I said to myself. My eyes were closing and I could see my dead mom waiving to me across a river, my spirit was in another realm. I was walking on water, moving towards my mom. I could see many strange being, I looked back and forth yet I can’t tell where I am.
My eyes were opened to the feel of cold water on my body, it sooth me and woke me up from the trance. I woke up to the reality, the room has been lighted now. I saw Kayode and one other man I couldn’t recognize. As they noticed I’ve woken up they started laughing so loud. I was frightened and shivering. Kayode said to me;
“my love how are you enjoying my dungeon, hope you love the hotness and darkness?”
“hahahahha!!!” they laughed once again. “Sholape I won’t let you die in here just like that, you know I love you? You should have stayed away from me, you shouldn’t have found out about me, you shouldn’t have allowed yourself to be deflowered by another man. Now you are making me start all over again. You just have to pay for knowing the real me”.
I gathered all the strength in me to speak. “Kayode please don’t do this, you know I love you? I promise to keep your secret, nobody will hear anything from me, and please just let me go”.
He then replied to my plead, “my love I would love to, but nobody born of woman knows Kay the blood and live”. The other guy hailed him saying “Kay the Dracula”.
“It’s not time to take her blood yet nigga. Take her to the upper room, give her some food he instructed”. The man said “OK sir”.
I couldn’t walk by myself so I was supported by the man. We finally arrived at the upper room . The room was dark but there’s enough ventilation to support adequate breathing. The room has a single arm chair and a table. I was offered some food, custard and milk, I wanted to reject the food but I couldn’t say a word, the food was placed on the table and the man ordered me to eat, I was so hungry and weak my hands were still tied. I made a signal that I’m not eating, the man said “you idiot think I poisoned the food abi?”. He tasted the food and he forced me to take the custard. After I regained little stamina and I sat down on the chair. Kayode walked in and asked if I enjoyed the meal. He then instructed the man to make sure I eat well till he decides when to execute me. I could feel he has gotten a virgin for the ritual because his face was fiull of smiles. I sat there and I just pitied the girl he used.
The day went by, in the evening I was served beans and plantain. The man will point a gun at me. He wouldn’t untie my hands, he made sure I was eating with my mouth like an animal. “This is the worst experience in my life, I prefer dying of hunger to eating from a plate like a dog I told him”.
“You no dey fear face abi you wan die?”
I replied him that “I’m ready to die”, the man gave me a slap and was molesting me, suddenly I heard a gunshot through the door, guess who it was , it was Kayode, he looked so angry ,
“Charlie” he called the man, “didn’t I warn you not to lay a finger on this girl? I told you she’s special to me didn’t I?”
“Charlie was shaking now and voice breaking too, “you did sir”.
“Then why did you molest her?” before I could blink an eye Kayode had shot Charlie in the arm, Charlie was in agony and begging for his life, I couldn’t help it I just have to plead on his behalf, Kayode is gonna kill him. I pleaded with Kayode to leave Charlie alone, “I told them not to touch you” he said as he shot him trice in the chest. I shouted.
That was the first time I witnessed a trigger being pulled…… “Kayode you just killed a man” I yelled at him.
“oh dear I’ve lost count of soul I’ve killed. I am the Dracula I will kill the body, soul and even the spirit. But you I’ve promised myself to give you a befitting death” Hahahahah!!! he laughed as he walked out of the room leaving the body behind.
